Governor Atiyeh about to shake hands with Washington State Governor Dixy Lee Ray at a campaign meet for Ronald Reagan as President and Denny Smith as Congressman. Dixy Lee Ray was Washington's governor from 1977 to 1981. She was known for her brilliant mind, her many idiosyncrasies, and her leadership during the events of the Mount St. Helens eruption. This is one of a set of photographs taken by Gerry Lewin, a photographer for the Salem Statesman Journal.
