Two mothers with Boxer
-
Description
-
Two women, probably the mothers of Pacific University students, pose in their home with the original "Boxer" statue. This snapshot was taken around June, 1957.
-
"Boxer" was a bronze Chinese incense burner in the form of a qilin. Pacific University students had a tradition of hiding, stealing and fighting over the statue as a symbol of college spirit. Boxer became Pacific University's mascot in 1968.
