Homecoming skit

Description
-
Pacific University students apparently performing in a skit. Several of the women on stage are dressed as flappers, while others are cross-dressing as male dancers and as football players. This photograph was likely taken during the entertainment portion of a dinner event thrown by Freshman at Pacific University at Homecoming in October, 1970. It took place in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) of Washburne Hall. See another image from the same event: PUA_LuauSlides_315.jpg

Pacific University began hosting an annual Lu'au in 1961. Student members of Na Haumana O Hawai'i (Hawaiian Club) organized and performed in the event, raising money for scholarships. The Lu'au included a dinner, sales of leis and other products flown in from Hawai'i, and performances of Pacific island dances. The Lu'au is normally held on the second Saturday in April in Washburne Hall. The name of the event was changed to Lu'au and Ho'ike in 2019.
